Former Kenyan International Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo in talks for top-flight return

Former Kenya police head coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo may soon make a comeback in the Kenya top-flight league.

This news comes after he was sacked from the law enforcers’ side due to a string of poor performances.

According to a close source who spoke to Newsday Kenya on the condition of anonymity, the Mombasa-based club Bandari is considering appointing the former Kenyan international as their new coach.

“We are considering speaking to Sammy Omollo to see if he would be interested in taking the mantle when the new season begins.” A source told Newsday Kenya.

Bandari recently sacked Anthony Kimani after a disappointing 3-0 loss to AFC Leopards in The Mozzart Cup.

The club is currently under the tutelage of veteran tactician Twahir Muhiddin, who will take over the reins for the remainder of the campaign.

However, it seems that Bandari is already looking for a long-term solution, and Pamzo could be the man for the job.

There have also been reports that a Nairobi-based club is interested in appointing Pamzo, but this information could not be independently verified by this writer.

Earlier reports had suggested that the slum boys were considering the former Gor Mahia assistant coach to take over from Mathare, but a few days ago, Mathare confirmed the appointment of Collins Omondi, also known as Korea in local football circles.

Pamzo is a well-respected figure in Kenyan football, having played for the national team and several top clubs in the country.

He boasts of vast coaching experience. He has previously managed a number of Kenyan clubs including Oserian, Mahakama, and Sony Sugar.

The former Gor Mahia player has also had a spell with Tusker and Posta Rangers.

His most recent coaching stint at Kenya police ended in disappointment, but he is still highly regarded by many in the football fraternity.
