FKF Head of Communication provides update on where to watch Kenya vs Iran clash

0

The friendly match between Kenya and Iran has been highly anticipated by fans, as it marks the return of the Kenyan national team to international football after more than a year.

With the match scheduled to kick off at 7pm East African Time at the Azadi Stadium in Tehran, fans have been eager to find out where they can watch the action.

According to the Football Kenya Federation (FKF), the broadcasting details for the match had not yet been confirmed as of the time of this article’s writing.

However, the FKF Head of Communication, Ken Okaka, had stated that they would inform the public by the end of the day.

Ahead of the clash, Stars’ coach, Firat, has emphasized that no one is guaranteed a place in the team, as he excluded the league’s top scorer, Benson Omala, from the squad.

However, several key players are expected to start, including captain Michael Olunga, midfielders Kenneth Muguna and Richard Odada, and defenders Joseph Okumu and Erick “Marcelo” Ouma.

The Stars’ return to international football comes after the government’s interference in football management in the country, which led to Kenya’s suspension by FIFA.

The suspension lasted from February 24 to November 27 of last year, during which time the Stars were unable to participate in any international matches.

The team’s coach, Firat, has been in charge of the team for four Group “E” 2022 World Cup qualifiers matches in 2021, and the match against Iran will be his fifth game in charge.

Despite being ranked 101 globally, the Stars will face a tough challenge against Iran, who are ranked 24th and have won both previous meetings between the two teams. The match is expected to be a test for the Stars as they prepare for future international competitions, including the World Cup qualifiers.

The inclusion of new players, striker Alfred Scriven and defender Daniel Anyembe, who may make their debuts, could inject some fresh energy into the team. However, the Stars will need to work together and bring their A-game if they hope to come out on top against Iran.
