Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has announced a short-term broadcast deal with Tanzanian media company Azam Media Limited.

The partnership will see Azam broadcast two fixtures from the FKF Premier League, with Kariobangi Sharks vs Tusker and Gor Mahia vs AFC Leopards scheduled to take place on May 13, 2023, and May 14, 2023, respectively.

The deal will benefit all 18 FKF Premier League clubs, with each club set to receive KES 300,000. This is thanks to Azam agreeing to pay US$60,000 (Approx Sh8m) to the FKF League to be shared by all the clubs despite only two games being broadcast on TV.

”The deal will see all the 18 FKF PL clubs receive KES 300,000 and Azam Media Limited broadcast two FKF PL fixtures, Kariobangi Sharks vs Tusker and Gor Mahia vs AFC Leopards, scheduled to be played on May 13, 2023, and May 14, 2023, respectively.” FKF CEO Barry Otieno said in a statement.

In addition to the broadcast deal, the FKF will use Sh2 million to pay the referees’ dues from the last couple of matches. VIP tickets for the Mashemeji derby will cost Sh500, while regular tickets will cost Sh200.

The FKF expressed its gratitude for the partnership with Azam and thanked the company for its commitment to the commercial development of Kenyan football.

The federation is hopeful that this short-term deal will lead to a long-term partnership that is mutually beneficial for both parties.
