EXCLUSIVE: Gospel singer Dennis Mutara’s emotional message to fans

Popular gospel singer Dennis Mutara has re-emerged in the public eye, but this time, he appears to have significantly lost weight, raising concerns among fans and well-wishers.

The ‘Wendo Ni Muhiu’ (Love is Hot) hitmaker’s recent physical transformation is a stark reminder of the challenges he has faced, particularly since a devastating road accident in 2020.

The accident was just one of a series of unfortunate events that the veteran artiste has endured.

Mutara has also been allegedly accused of being an alcoholic after he joined a Kikuyu alleged ‘cult’ called, Gwata Ndai, “solve the riddle”.

While asked if he has been using alcohol, Dennis previously denied.

“It is not true that I have been using alcohol.”

In an interview with Nairobi News, Mutara opened up about the immense hardships he has encountered in recent years.

Besides surviving four accidents, he also had to cope with the loss of his parents and the debilitating effects of depression, which eventually led him to spend three months in a rehabilitation center.

“My nerves were affected after that accident. However much I want to come back and continue singing, I can’t manage. Singing involves happiness, and I can’t be happy when I am this sick. To my fans, I love them so much and I would want them to continue praying for me.”

Mutara’s situation was highlighted by fellow artiste Karangu Wa Muraya, who visited Mutara on Sunday, September 10.

Karangu informed them that Mutara’s health had deteriorated significantly.

“This evening I visited my brother Dennis Mutara, and for sure I have confirmed that he is not well, after calling some family members we have agreed to meet at his house tomorrow morning so we can agree on the way forward.”

Karangu also cautioned against believing a Facebook account that claimed to provide updates on Mutara’s condition.

“God of second chance, please give your son Dennis Mutara a second chance to serve you…please hear our prayers. Alafu dear friends, msindanganywe na hiyo page inajiiita Dennis Mutara page…. saa hii Mutara hayuko Facebook na hata at his condition. Hawezi update all those posts…. speedy recovery bro,” Karangu shared.

In a previous interview, Mutara had revealed that he felt restrained by fellow musicians from pursuing his passion for singing.

“A singer will be eaten by their fellow musicians. You never know what happened to me. It was my star that was shining and they tried to put it off. They cut my roots.”
