Evidence Shows Late Tecra Was Murdered

The death of Tecra Muigai, the daughter to Keroche CEO Tabitha Karanja and chairman Joseph Muigai Karanja, has remained a mystery that is yet to be solved.

Tecra’s family, through their lawyer James Orengo, believe that Tecra’s fall was intentioned while Omar Lali, the boyfriend to the deceased and one who was with her on the night she fell off a flight of stairs, maintains that the fall was an accident.

On Monday, June 1, Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti told the Standard that detectives had enough evidence to prove that Tecra’s death was murder.

“We have enough evidence to prove that it was murder,” Kinoti stated.

Detectives have made a number of visits to Jaha House, a guest house in Lamu, that Tecra and her boyfriend were staying and where the fatal fall took place.

At the same time, a number of statements have been taken from doctors who were treating Tecra at Shale dispensary.

Tecra was later taken to King Fahd Referral Hospital, then admitted at Nairobi Hospital where she passed on.

Kenyans.co.ke’s efforts to contact DCI Kinoti on more information did not bear fruit.

Omar Lali, who had been in detention for 27 days, was set free on a bond of Ksh 300,000 on Wednesday, May 27.

Lali’s family did not have the money to secure the bond, hence, they had put up title deeds to their two pieces of land as collateral.

His release came almost two weeks after Tecra was buried at her family home in Naivasha in a private ceremony.

Through family spokesperson Mohamed Lali, Omar and his family had asked to be allowed to say goodbye to Tecra, stating that they treated her like one of their own.

However, their request was not granted.

“Although it hurts that I was not there to send her to heaven, I know she is well and she knows I miss her,” he stated.

He maintained that he is innocent and hopes that justice will be served.

“I hope for two things, that the wheels turn in my favor and that I never stop seeing or hearing her voice every time I close my eyes to dive into the ocean,” he told the publication.
