Europe-based club fighting for former KCB forward signature days after contract termination

Derrick Otanga, the top scorer of last season’s FKF Premier League, has disclosed that several local and foreign football clubs have expressed an interest in signing him under the Bosman rule.

Otanga, who scored 16 goals last season, is a free agent after leaving Al-Ittihad Misrata SC, a Libyan club. He terminated his one-year contract with the team after four months and is now contemplating his next career move back home in Kenya.

Some local FKF Premier League teams and others from foreign countries have already contacted the player about a possible transfer. Otanga says he is in discussions with numerous clubs and hopes to make a final decision about his future in the next few weeks.

“Teams from in and outside the country have already reached out and I can say we are in talks and at this point I do not want to go into much details. Nothing has been agreed on yet but there is progress and in the next few days or weeks I will make my next home known but as of now, there is nothing much to talk about,”  he told Mozzart sports.

Although, nothing has been agreed upon yet, there has been progress, and he will reveal his next destination shortly. Otanga has stated that he is willing to return to the FKF Premier League or play outside the country, with the aim of enjoying what he loves most, which is playing football.

Otanga, who has played for Sony Sugar, Wazito FC, and KCB before moving to Libya, intends to play regularly again and have his future resolved as soon as possible.

His 16 goals last season helped him become the top scorer in the FKF Premier League.
