Wezesha Mama, Inua Jamii – Nairobi chapter hands over millions in empowerment support

    The Nairobi Chapter of Wezesha Mama, Inua Jamii today held an empowerment day that brought together residents and leaders from across the county for a meaningful celebration and empowerment. This event provided crucial support to women, youth, and vulnerable groups.

    Graced by Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris, Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu, Deputy Speaker Gladys Shollei, among other women political leaders, the event was vibrant and left attendees feeling appreciated.

    Busia county launches women’s economic empowerment program

    Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris led the event by personally handing out empowerment cheques and packages to beneficiaries. Passaris thanked the government for its ongoing support in improving the welfare of women, youth, and vulnerable groups in Nairobi County.

    They distributed KSh 28 million in Women Economic Empowerment (WEE) cheques to various women and youth groups across Nairobi. This funding will help them grow their businesses, create jobs, and improve their livelihoods. Education was also a priority, with KSh 11 million in bursaries given to deserving students.

    In a spirit of inclusion, they donated 200 white canes to blind students. The Bomb Blast Association received KSh 250,000 from the Wezesha Fund. Survivors of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) under Vijana Amani Pamoja (VAP) received 20 mattresses to support their recovery and comfort.

    Furthermore, eight SGBV survivors from VAP will get travel support to represent Kenya at the Homeless World Cup Football Tournament in Oslo, Norway.

    Passaris reaffirmed her commitment to supporting initiatives that empower women and youth. She mentioned that investing in their potential directly impacts communities.
