DP Gachagua, Karen Nyamu And Other Leaders Grace Samidoh’s Foundation Launch

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua Thursday night graced Mugithi star Samidoh’s foundation launch, a ceremony which attracted some of the most notable names from the Mount Kenya political scene as well as stakeholders from various sectors in the arts industry.

The DP-led contingent of influential figures including Youth and Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba, nominated Senator Karen Nyamu, Kiambu Senator Karungo Thang’wa and Murang’a Women Representative Betty Maina among others.

The event, held at the Parklands Sports Club, was a culmination of Samidoh’s long and chequered journey in the music industry fraught with challenges, a daunting childhood, extreme poverty and eventually stellar success.

“In the last four years, through Guitar ya Samidoh Initiative, we have supported people through education, feeding programs, scouting and helping upcoming artists to record their music among other activities. And now, ladies and gentlemen, the vision has grown big and we will be launching Samidoh Foundation. Join me in this noble cause and help make a bigger impact, ” the Mugithi star wrote on his social media pages.

The singer also noted his challenging childhood, saying that he was forced to fend for himself at a young age but still maintained his vision and spiritedly pushed on in pursuit of success.

“The ever jovial and smiling young man encountered a fair share of challenges leaving him to fend for himself at a tender age, but his hope, zeal and charisma attracted the community to support his education. Through his challenges, he made a vow that one day he will also support his community, ” he added.

DP Gachagua, while appreciating Samidoh’s success story, also took to his official X (formerly Twitter) handle to shower praises on the ‘Mumbi’ singer saying that the star had been a continuous musical and creative inspiration. He also extended President William Ruto’s congratulations.

“Samidoh continues to stand out and to inspire us through his music, innovation and creativity. We celebrate him and are very proud of him,” the DP wrote.

“Last evening, it was a pleasure to join Samidoh and rejoice with him as he launched The Samidoh Foundation, whose focus is to help the vulnerable, the youth and in particular, the boychild. Giving back to society is a mark of honour and the right thing to do. Congratulations Samidoh from H.E President  @WilliamsRuto and all of us!”

Samidoh is one of the most popular Mugithi stars renowned for hit songs such as ‘Kairetu Gakwa’, Ndire Mutwe’ and ‘Wendo Wi Cama’.
