On the morning of January 17, 2020, at B Club, just as the night was winding down, DJ Evolve was shot in the neck at point-blank range by Embakasi East MP Babu Owino.
The flashbacks from that fateful day to date haunt DJ Evolve.
In a candid interview with Dan Mwangi on NTV, Evolve spoke from his sickbed.
The spinmaster said that his life has taken a dramatic turn.
His tools of the trade, his hands have minimal mobility, he does not know what the future holds for him and his career.
To top all that up, he had difficulty sleeping since the shooting. The flashbacks have kept him awake for months.
DJ Evolve told Dan Mwangi, “I AM CURRENTLY DOING BETTER AS OPPOSED TO HOW I WAS THE FIRST TIME. I WAS COMPLETELY TRAUMATIZED AT FIRST BUT I AM LEARNING TO LIVE WITH IT.”
He continued,
“AT LEAST NOWADAYS I CAN BE ABLE TO SLEEP BUT INITIALLY I COULD NOT SLEEP AT ALL. I KEPT HAVING FLASHBACKS OF THAT FATEFUL DAY. I NEED MEDICATION SO THAT I CAN BE ABLE TO SLEEP.”
Adding,
The mother who is his primary caretaker said during the interview that the shooting left her in a lot of pain.
“DUE TO THE PAIN (IN MY HEART), I CANNOT TALK. I JUST TALK TO MY GOD. MY SON’S LIFE HAS BEEN DESTROYED. (I HOPE TO GET) JUSTICE FOR MY KID. ONLY THAT,” SHE SAYS.
In a past interview, Babu Owino said,
“IT IS A MATTER THAT IS BETWEEN ME AND GOD AND I CHOSE TO FORGIVE MYSELF, WE CANNOT CHANGE THE PAST BUT WE CAN CHANGE THE FUTURE, LET US FOCUS ON WHAT IS COMING IN THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE.
Adding,
“LET US NOT DWELL SO MUCH IN OUR PAST CAUSE WE CAN’T CHANGE IT, NO MATTER HOW WE WOULD WANT TO.”

I’m Unable To Move, Do Simple Basic Things
A few weeks after leaving hospital Felix Orinda also known as DJ Evolve has spoken about how his life has changed after he was shot at B Club.
Evolve who has been had been hospitalized since January 2020, was shot at close range by Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino.
Speaking for the first time since the accident, in an interview with NTV Evolve said,
‘I CAN MOVE MY FINGERS A BIT, BUT THAT IS ALL I CAN DO FOR NOW.
MY HANDS WERE MY TOOLS OF TRADE AND EVEN THOUGH I CAN’T MOVE THEM LIKE BEFORE THEY ARE BETTER THAN WHEN I WAS FIRST HOSPITALIZED.
I RELY ON PEOPLE TO DO EVERYTHING FOR ME. I’m JUST HERE THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO FOR MYSELF.’
Asked on how he felt after the incident, Evolve said,
‘I WAS VERY TRAUMATIZED AT THE BEGINNING, BUT I LEARNT TO LIVE WITH IT.
NOW I CAN BE ABLE TO SLEEP BEFORE I COULD NOT SLEEP AT ALL.’
DJ Evolve still has a tube to his throat to help create an airway and ease his breathing, he also cannot move his lower limbs.
We hope that he gets the justice that he deserves and that he will be able to move again and spin for us like he did before the unfortunate accident.
