However, his business efforts were entangled with personal and political issues. At one point, a simple act of giving Sh20,000 each to two secretaries turned into accusations of corruption. This situation involved personal ties, including one secretary who was the mother of his son Edward and another who was linked romantically to the chief secretary. The allegations reached the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), leading to Jirongo being called in for questioning. Rather than bowing to pressure, he insisted on retrieving a prior gift before proceeding, showing his strength and refusal to let himself be unfairly accused. Hundreds gathered at CITAM Valley Road in Nairobi to pay their respects to the former Lugari MP, reflecting the wide respect and curiosity surrounding his life. High-profile figures such as Martha Karua, former Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria, and former Vihiga Senator George Khaniri publicly questioned the circumstances of his death, noting Jirongo had expressed concerns about his safety.
