Kenya has recorded 1,216 more Covid-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours as the country’s total caseload rises to 65,804.
In a statement to newsrooms on Wednesday, November 11, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced that 6,816 samples had been tested over the period, bringing the total number of samples tested so far to 760,775.
Of the positive cases, 1,174 are Kenyans while 42 are foreigners.
In terms of gender, 726 are males while 490 are female. The youngest case involves an 11-month old infant while the oldest is aged 99 years.
At the same time, 513 patients were discharged, 382 from home-based care, and 149 from the various hospitals around the country.
The total number of recoveries now stands at 43,626.
Regrettably, 26 patients succumbed to the disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 1,180.
The distribution of cases in Counties is as follows; Nairobi 439, Mombasa 250, Kilifi 63, Kiambu 59, Taita Taveta 52, Nyeri 41, Uasin Gishu 38, Laikipia 32, Kisumu 30, Kajiado 24, Kakamega 24, Kitui 22, Siaya 20, Machakos 19, Bungoma 17, Meru 14, Nandi 11, Tana River 10, Garissa 9, Homabay 8, Kisii 8, Nakuru 6, Kirinyaga 5, Murang’a 3, Elgeyo Marakwet 2 while Turkana, Nyandarua, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Kwale, Migori, West Pokot and Makueni have a case each.
The Ministry stated that there are 2,148 healthcare workers who tested positive for the virus. Of these, 1,087 are males and 1,061 are female.
Unfortunately, 23 healthcare workers had lost their lives since the pandemic struck.
So far, a total of 1,289 patients are admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 5,960 are on Home Based Isolation care.
57 are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 18 of whom are on ventilatory support and 34 on supplemental oxygen.
Another 86 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen out of whom 68 are in the general wards while 18 are in the High Dependency Unit.
