Covid-19 Update: Kenya Records 1008, Discharged 802, Deaths 21- Total no of Cases 59,595

Kenya has recorded 1008 more Covid-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours as the country’s total caseload rises to 59,595.

In a statement to newsrooms on Thursday, November 5, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced that 6,038 samples had been tested over the period, bringing the total number of samples tested so far to 723,210.

Of the positive cases, 616 are male and 36 are female while the youngest case is a two-month-old infant and the oldest is aged 95.

At the same time, 802 patients were discharged, 679 from home-based care, and 123 from the various hospitals around the country bringing the total number of recoveries to 39,193.

Regrettably, 21 patients succumbed to the disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 1,072.

The report further indicated that 1,262 patients were currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 5,129 are on the Home-Based Isolation and Care.

62 of the patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 26 of whom are on ventilatory support, and 31 on supplementary oxygen.

Another 87 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen out of whom 74 are in the general wards, while 13 are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

The distribution of cases by counties is as follows; Nairobi 417, Mombasa 87, Kiambu 51, Kajiado 48, Nakuru 35, Kisumu 32, Kakamega 32, Trans Nzoia 26, Kilifi 24, Nyandarua 23, Kericho 23, Uasin Gishu 23, Nyamira 21, Machakos 20, Migori 16, Nyeri 15, Murang’a 14, Turkana 13, Siaya 10, Mandera 9, Busia 8, Meru 7, Kisii 7, West Pokot 6, Tharaka Nithi 6, Makueni 6, Homabay 6, Elgeyo Marakwet 5, Embu 4, Nandi 3, Kirinyaga 2, Bomet 2, Bungoma 2, Samburu 1, Baringo 1, Wajir 1, Kwale 1 and Taita Taveta 1.

The Ministry continues to urge Kenyans to wash hands regularly, wear face masks, and practice social distancing in public.

Inspector-General of Police Hillary Mutyambai has since directed that anyone found flaunting the Covid-19 rules will pay an instant fine of Ksh20,000.
