59 more individuals tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours after 1,518 samples were tested.
In a statement by the Health Ministry on June 1, 2020, CS Mutahi Kagwe stated that the total number of cases in the country now stood at 2,021.
Eight patients were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of those who had recovered to 485.
At the same time, five patients have succumbed to the disease, bringing the total number of fatalities to 69.
Of the cases reported today, the youngest is 24-years-old while the oldest is 76. 24 are females and 35 are male.
In terms of case distribution by counties; Nairobi has 29 cases, Mombasa (14), Turkana (6), Busia (4), Taita Taveta (2), Kajiado (2), Kiambu and Kilifi, one each.
In Nairobi, the cases are distributed as follows; Ruaraka (8) Westlands (6), Dagoretti North (4), Langata (4), Kibra (3)Embakasi East, Kasarani, Kamkunji and Madaraka, all have one case each.
All the eight cases from Ruaraka are from quarantine facilities.
In Mombasa; Mvita has 6 cases while Nyali, Jomvu, and Changamwe have 2 cases each.
The cases in Busia are from; Malaba POE (3) and Alupe quarantine (1) while those in Taita Taveta are from Mwatate.
In Kajiado, the two cases are from Kajiado East while in Kiambu, the case is from Juja.
Finally, in Kilifi, the single case is from Rabai.
Kagwe asked Kenyans to continue following directives set by the government including wearing of masks, social distancing, and washing hands regularly to combat the disease.
