Covid-19 Update: 375 New Cases, 128 Recoveries, 4 Deaths- Total no of Cases 16, 643

Kenya has recorded 375 new cases of Coronavirus (Covid-19) with the total cases reported so far rising to 16,643.

The cases were recorded from 2,052 samples tested in the past 24 hours, Health CAS Rashid Aman announced on Saturday, July 25.

The positive cases were a considerable drop by nearly half from Friday, July 24, the tally of 667 cases. The total samples tested since Coronavirus broke out in March 2020 now stands at 268,154.

Out of the positive cases, 229 were male and 146 were female. 351 are Kenyans and 24 are foreigners with the youngest a 5-month old infant and the oldest 90-years old.

128 recoveries were reported, 75 from the home-based care program, and 51 from hospitals with the total tally rising to 7,574.

Four patients died in the past 24 hours, bringing total deaths to 278.

The cases per counties showed that Nairobi was leading with 240 cases followed by Kajiado with 36 new cases.

Kiambu registered 31 new cases, Migori (16), Machakos (15), Nakuru (15), Nyeri (5), Kisumu (3), Uasin Gishu (3), Mombasa (3), Trans Nzoia (2), with Meru, Kisii, Siaya, Vihiga, Kakamega and Murang’a reporting one case each.

In Nairobi County, the cases were reported in Westlands (31), Lang’ata (30), Dagoretti North (26), Kibra (26), Makadara (19), Embakasi South (14), Starehe (13), Embakasi East (12), Embakasi West (12).

CAS Aman further stated that about 50 percent of those who have died so far had pre-existing conditions.

“People with pre-existing conditions have high chances of developing complications especially those who do not manage their conditions,” he stated.

CAS Aman recommended for Kenyans to eat healthy and manage their sugar intake while observing hygiene and social distancing.
