Covid-19 Update: 207 New Cases, 262 Recovered, 3 Deaths- Total no of Cases 96,458

Kenya has recorded 207 more Covid-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours as the country’s total caseload rises to 96,458.

Currently, there are 662 patients admitted in various health facilities countrywide and 3,024 on Home Based Isolation and Care.

In a statement on Thursday, December 31, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced that 4,988 samples had been tested over the period bringing the total number of samples tested so far to 1,046,667.

Of the positive cases, 130 are male and 77 are female while the youngest is a five-month-old child. The oldest is 84.

Today, 262 patients have recovered from the disease, 238 being from the Home-Based Care Program, while 24 have been discharged from various hospitals. The total recoveries now stand at 78,737.

Unfortunately, 3 patients have succumbed to the disease bringing the cumulative fatalities to 1,670.

28 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 14 of whom are on ventilatory support, and 13 on supplemental oxygen. One is being observed.

Another 22 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen, out of whom 21 are in the general wards.

One is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

Distribution of the cases by Counties is as follows; Nairobi 93, Bungoma 16, Uasin Gishu 14, Mombasa 11, Nakuru 11, Kiambu 11, Homa Bay 8, Kajiado 5, Busia 5, Makueni 5, Kakamega 3.

Kisumu 3, Kwale 3, Nandi 3, Trans Nzoia 3, Kilifi 2, Taita Taveta 2, Isiolo 2, Vihiga 2, Machakos 2, Siaya 1, Mandera 1 and Garissa 1.

In terms of Sub County Distribution: In Nairobi, the 93 cases are from Kibra 15, Westlands 11, Lang’ata 10, Kamukunji 7, Embakasi West 6, Dagoretti North, Embakasi South, Makadara and Starehe 5 cases each.

Embakasi Central and Mathare 4 cases each, Dagoretti South, Embakasi East, Kasarani, Roysambu and Ruaraka 3 cases each, Embakasi North recorded only 1 case.
