Kenya recorded 176 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases to 35,969.
In a statement, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe on Saturday, September 12, announced that 4,115 samples had been tested over the period bringing the total samples tested so far to 494,560.
Out of the 176 cases, only 5 are foreigners.
Additionally, 136 are male and 44 are female while the youngest case is a 3-month-old infant and the oldest is aged 78 years.
At the same time, 329 patients were discharged, bringing the total number of recoveries to 22,771.
42 of the cases are from the home-based care program while 286 are from hospitals across the country,
Regrettably, 3 patients succumbed to the disease bringing the total number of deaths to 619.
The distribution of cases by counties is as follows; Nairobi 32, Nakuru 29, Mombasa 22, Kajiado 14, Kisii 9, Kiambu 7, Garissa 6, Nyeri 6, Migori 6, Kisumu 6, Vihiga 6, Uasin Gishu 6, Kwale 5, Meru 5, Narok 3, Kericho 2, Nyandarua 2, Busia 2, Kitui 2 while Murang’a, Homa Bay, Kilifi, Laikipia, Embu, Machakos and Baringo recorded a case each.
The Ministry continues to urge Kenyans to wear masks, wash hands regularly and maintain social distancing, noting that the curve has not completely flattened.
The Ministry has continued to warn that foreign countries such as the US and Spain have recorded spikes in Covid-19 cases through secondary and tertiary infections after they reopened.
