Milimani Law Court on Tuesday morning made history after choosing to hold proceedings outside the courtroom.
The court retreated to the parking lot under a tree in a move aimed at minimizing contact in line with guidelines on the coronavirus.
Nairobi Senior Resident Magistrate Muthoni Nzibe led the proceedings seated behind a make-shift desk as lawyers and the prosecution made their submissions.

The latest comes just a day after the courtroom closed its doors and allowed non-critical staff to work from home.
And on Monday, Milimani Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi said all criminal matters had been deferred until April 15.
The busy Nairobi court was for the first time in many years, empty.
Members of the public were banned from the premises unless on gravely urgent matters.

The decree came following a statement from the Judiciary advising each court to maintain only a skeleton of three staff members.
The latest developments come after Kenya confirmed three positive cases of the coronavirus.
The patients who are receiving medical care are currently in isolation at the Mbagathi Hospital isolation unit.
