A Karatina Law Courts employee is being pursued by police after allegedly murdering her husband and daughter on Friday, April 10.

The 45-year-old woman went on the rampage at 4 am, axing her 47-year-old husband, Charles Murimi.

She then proceeded to viciously hack her 13-year-old daughter to death at their home in Kuora Village in Ndia Constituency.

Their 21-year-old son narrowly escaped death by the skin of his teeth after he fended the mother’s attempt to hack him and fled to safety.

According to their neighbors, this is not the first time that the family was engaged in drama but have always found a way out.

Fredrick Munyiri who was Murimi’s colleague at Jufred Dairies spoke to K24 about the murders, “I looked for my colleague, who accompanied me to the scene, where we found our manager, Murimi, lying in a pool of blood in his bedroom.

“In a room adjacent to the manager’s bedroom, was the body of his 13-year-old daughter who had sustained a deep cut wound in her head.”

The daughter who attended Jufred Academy was supposed to sit for her Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams this year.

The bodies of the father and daughter were taken to the Kerugoya County Referral Hospital morgue.

Kirinyaga County Commissioner, Jim Njoka had days earlier noted that cases of domestic violence were on the rise after the dusk till dawn curfew was imposed.

“I urge couples to stop fighting one another, especially men who are naturally physically stronger than their wives. Should you find it hard to solve your issues privately, then you can seek the services of a marriage counselor.”

With most people staying at home due to the Covid-19 pandemic, domestic violence cases have been on the rise globally.
