City Pastor Advises Uhuru To Call For a Lockdown

Renown preacher Pastor Migwi Godfrey has broken his silence on the coronavirus which is spreading like fire across the globe.

Kenya has reported 25 cases and the first case was reported on March 13.  Italy is the worst-hit with over 4,000 deaths and more than 250 infected.

In a social media post, the man of God advised Kenyans to stay home and adhere to the government rules.

IF POSSIBLE PLEASE STAY AT HOME TO STOP THE SPREADING OF THIS DEADLY VIRUS, EVERY PRESS CONFERENCE FROM THE HEALTH CS IS ABOUT NUMBERS OF INFECTED PEOPLE GOING UP NOT GOING DOWN, SO EVERYONE HAS A DUTY TO STOP THE SPREAD. BUT AS WE CONTINUE TO FIGHT THIS BATTLE, THE PRESIDENT NEEDS TO COME UP WITH A LOCKDOWN IDEA WHICH IS NOT FAVORABLE TO US BUT WE MUST SWALLOW THE BITTER PILLS FOR A WHILE THAN BURYING OUR LOVED ONES,’ HE WROTE IN PART.

The BBC presenter went ahead to ask President Uhuru to close down any active public places so as to curb the spread of Covid-19.

DEAR PRESIDENT NOW STAMP YOUR AUTHORITY AND SHUT EVERY MALLS, SHOPS, MARKETS, PETROL AND GAS STATIONS. YOU NEED TO STOP EVERY MOVEMENT IN TOWNS AND IN VILLAGES , FERRYING PEOPLE NEED TO STOP FOR A WHILE, EVERY PUBLIC TRANSPORT NEED TO STOP. NOW MR PRESIDENT ALLOW AND LET MILITARY FORCE PEOPLE TO STAY AT HOME BY FORCE AT LEAST 3 TO 4 WEEKS TO SAVE THIS NATION FROM CORONAVIRUS,’ HE POSTED.

The House of Hope founder went ahead to urge President Uhuru to ‘force all civil servants to take a pay cut’, which will be used to feed Kenyans during the lockdown period.

BUT MY OPINION BEFORE YOU DO THAT SIR, FORCE ALL CIVIL SERVANTS STARTING WITH YOU, YOUR DEPUTY, GOVERNORS AND ALL OTHERS TO SIGN A SALARY PAY CUT BY HALF TO BE COLLECTED BY RED CROSS TO HELP THE LESS FORTUNATE AND THOSE OTHERS WHO WORK HAND TO MOUTH, CHIEFS AND NYUMBA KUMI CAN WORK WITH RED CROSS TO GIVE FOOD TO THE NEEDY IN TOWNS AND IN OUR VILLAGES AT THAT PERIOD OF LOCKDOWN. AGAIN THE CHURCH AND RELIGIOUS LEADERS NEED TO COME UP WITH A STRATEGY OF HOW THEY CAN REACH THEIR NEEDY MEMBERS WHO ATTEND AND ALWAYS SUPPORT WITH THEIR LITTLE EARNINGS IN THE CHURCH.

CHURCH AND RELIGIOUS LEADERS NEED WORK WITH GOK STAFF TO SUPPLY FOOD TO THE NEEDY IN THAT PERIOD OF LOCKDOWN. LASTLY, THE GOVERNMENT CAN COME UP WITH A PAY-BILL NUMBER WHERE RICH PEOPLE OF THIS LAND CAN GIVE FREELY TO SUPPORT THE POOR OF THE LAND AND THE NEEDY IN THIS HARD TIME.

25,000 coronavirus testing kits donated by Chinese billionaire Jack Ma arrived yesterday in the country and so far 98 people have been discharged after 14 days in quarantine.

Many have echoed pastor Migwi’s remarks and reactions include;
