The family of Samuel Nzioki Ndunda, the ex-boyfriend of socialite Manzi wa Kibera, has come forward to confirm his passing and shed light on the circumstances surrounding his death.
Ndunda’s children shared insights into their father’s life and the challenges he faced leading up to his demise.
According to Mary, Ndunda’s daughter, her father had been experiencing chest problems for some time, which he occasionally complained about.
These health issues persisted amid financial strain, adding to the burdens Ndunda was already facing.
Mary recounted receiving a phone call notifying her of her father’s illness, followed by another call on Sunday informing her of his deteriorating condition. Tragically, by the time she reached his house the second time, he had already passed away.
“Nzioki ni babangu. Vile nimesishi na yeye hizo miaka zote, shida ilikuwa tu kifua. Na sometimes alikuwa anacomplain because of that. Before his death nilipigiwa simu ati ni mgonjwa. Alafu msichana yangu alonipigi simu on Sunday akanimabi aamempata amelemewa. Akarudi kwake mara ya pili akapata ashaag,” she said.
Ndunda’s son also shared his perspective on learning about his father’s sickness and subsequent demise. He recalled receiving a phone call on a Saturday night informing him of his father’s illness.
However, due to adverse weather conditions, he couldn’t visit his father until the next morning when he received the devastating news of his passing.
In addition to coping with the loss of their father, Ndunda’s family now faces the challenge of arranging his burial. Conflicts with other family members have prevented them from burying him at their ancestral land, leading them to decide on laying him to rest at Lang’ata Cemetery to avoid further controversy.
Mary appealed for assistance from well-wishers, emphasizing their limited means and expressing gratitude for any support that could alleviate their situation.
Funeral expenses, hospital bills, transportation, and other logistical arrangements are among the areas where help would be greatly appreciated.
