Chief of Defence Francis Ogolla’s Daughter Breaks Silence After Father Dies in a Chopper Crash

Lorna Omondi Ogolla, the daughter of Chief of Defence Forces Francis Ogolla, has broken her silence following reports of her father’s tragic death in a helicopter accident in Elgeyo Marakwet.

In a heartfelt statement shared on her LinkedIn page, Lorna expressed her profound grief, acknowledging her father’s pursuit of excellence as an empathetic and effective leader.

She described him as a statesman whose commitment to keeping Kenya safe spanned over four decades.

In her heartfelt message, Lorna reflected on her father’s legacy of leadership, emphasizing his actions as a teacher rather than his words.

She expressed her intention to someday share the beautiful stories of his impactful life but emphasized the urgency of bidding him farewell as he transitions to the great beyond.

“One day I shall tell beautiful stories of how he taught with his actions and not with his words. But today, I rush home to send him off to the great beyond,” she wrote.

The tragic incident occurred when a helicopter carrying Chief of Defence Forces Francis Ogolla and several other officials crashed in Kaben, Marakwet East.

The chopper, reportedly carrying 12 people, including officers of the rank of General, burst into flames upon crashing.

Despite the devastating outcome, there was one survivor, believed to be a photographer accompanying the delegation.

The crash site was immediately cordoned off as emergency responders worked tirelessly to manage the situation.

Eyewitnesses described the harrowing scene as the helicopter went down, with reports indicating that it had taken off from a local primary school before encountering difficulties.
