Chelsea are in negotiations over the €70 million purchase of James Rodriguez from Real Madrid, according to Sport. However, there are disagreements between key figures within the European champions’ hierarchy about whether they should sell the Colombia international.
It is reported that Real president Florentino Perez is unwilling to sell Rodriguez, although coach Zinedine Zidane has given the player his blessing to move on due to limited opportunities for him to play regularly and the need to raise funds through sales before he can add to his squad.
In the meantime, Chelsea have not delayed in holding talks with Rodriguez’s representatives, although discussions between the clubs themselves are yet to take place.
