Charles Kamau founded Blessed Driving School, which is based in Washington State, United States.
He lost his work in 2017, and he was considering other choices and side hustles to supplement his income.
After his wife referred him to a local driving school, he quickly found work as a driver instructor.
In an interview with Mkenya Marekani, Kamau revealed that the employment came at a crucial time for him because his wife was expecting their first child.
“My wife was expecting our first child.” So she went to a salon to get her hair done, and one of the assistants was seeking aid in learning to drive. My wife boasted to her that I was the best driver around and could aid her. This was the beginning of the dream,” he explained.
Kamau worked as an instructor for a while before going solo and finally opening his own driving school. He began by going door-to-door before accumulating enough money to open a real facility.
“At the time, we were at a terrible point in our life since I had recently lost my job. Fortunately, God provided a solution, and I was able to make it work. It began with door-to-door visits to raise awareness and connect with my clientele,” he added.

Following months of extra effort, he opened a real office in Washington State in September 2022.
“I was seeking for a way to serve the community, and in this case, the chance offered itself. It has been my passion to start a driving school, therefore I’m happy for the opportunity. The kids turn 16 every single day, thus there is a need for a driving school that will provide them with the necessary abilities to learn how to drive. That’s where we come in,” he said.
Kamau also stated that they have had numerous calls since children turn 16 every day, and there is a large market for those who want to learn how to drive.
“I’d recently lost my job, and my wife was about to give birth. God just opened the path, and the rest is history. I used to have a briefcase office, so I would go see people in their flats and at their homes, but now we are here, and God has blessed us with Blessed Driving School,” he said.
