Controversial TikToker Brian Chira is spotlighting TikTok income – if his figures are anything to go by.
While the app may seem like something only used to pass time, Chira says he makes around Ksh100,000 from going live.
Chira who goes live almost every day during the wee hours noted that most of his fans are based abroad.
“I make roughly KSh100,000 when I go live on Tiktok. Kenyans are wealthy and people out there are rich. Most of the people who join my Live videos are abroad,” he said during his recent interview with Youtuber, Eve Mungai.
According to him, his newfound fame on the app has completely transformed his life for the better as it has enabled him to cater to his grandmother and some of his orphaned cousins.
“Life has changed for the better. I am saving as much as I can. I am currently the breadwinner. I help my grandmother and my cousins who are orphans. I am currently the breadwinner. Life has been good,” he added.
Brian Chira made headlines when he confessed his love for controversial content creator Andrew Kibe revealing that he admires his beard.
“Naitwa Chira Brian Chira, Andrew Kibe aki wewe tu because of your beards. Oh my God, wuueh! Hebu come kiss these lips,” he stated in a video shared on his Tik Tok account.
TikTok has amassed millions of users globally leaving it open to creators from all walks of life.
Recent research placed Kenya as the top global leader in TikTok usage with a staggering 54% of users engaging in TikTok for various purposes, while 29% specifically rely on it for news consumption.
This is according to a 2023 digital news report by Reuters Institute survey.
Thailand was in second position closely followed by South Africa, where 50% of users engage with TikTok for general content, while 22% use it as a source of news.
