In a bid to revamp their fortunes and bring an end to a trophy-less streak, Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) side AFC Leopards is reportedly considering the appointment of Melis Medo as their next coach.

The club’s current coach, Patrick Aussems, is rumored to be on the verge of parting ways with the team after a disappointing season.

Medo, currently at the helm of Tanzania Mainland Premier League outfit Dodoma Jiji, has emerged as a prime candidate to take charge of the Nairobi-based giants.

While Dodoma Jiji finished 13th in the Tanzanian league this past season, Medo’s overall record with the team was less than impressive, with just nine wins, four draws, and 15 losses.

This potential move would mark Medo’s fourth stint coaching a Kenyan club, having previously managed Sofapaka, Wazito, and Nakumatt FC  during their participation in the Premier League.

AFC Leopards seems to be hoping that Medo’s experience in Kenyan football, coupled with his familiarity with the league dynamics, will help turn the team’s fortunes around.

Aussems took the reins at AFC Leopards in February 2021.

Despite showing promise, the team has failed to secure any silverware under his guidance. Most notably, their hopes of ending the season on a high were dashed when they suffered a loss to Kakamega Homeboyz in the FKF Cup.
