Nairobi, Kenya, 15th October, 2026 – Bolt, the leading on-demand mobility company, today launched Bolt Plus, a new subscription service giving customers exclusive savings and priority benefits across rides and food delivery, starting at KES 280 a month.
Designed for Kenyans who use Bolt regularly, Bolt Plus offers 10% cashback on every ride, free delivery on eligible food and retail orders, priority driver matching, faster food delivery and three free ride cancellations every month. New subscribers get their first month free, while an annual subscription is available at KES 899. To mark the launch, customers can also access Bolt Plus at an introductory rate of KES 119 per month for the first six months.
The launch comes as subscription-based and paid digital services become an increasingly familiar part of how consumers access products and services. For Bolt, the opportunity is to bring that model into everyday mobility and delivery, giving customers a tangible return on services they already use regularly.
Kenya’s growing digital adoption provides a strong foundation for this shift. The latest Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) sector statistics show that active mobile subscriptions reached 84.1 million in the third quarter of FY2025/26, up 7.4% during the quarter. Mobile broadband consumption also reached 800 million GB, a 6% increase from the previous quarter, while average consumption rose from 14.6GB to 15.1GB per subscription. Mobile money subscriptions increased to 53.4 million, equivalent to 100.1% penetration.
The growing familiarity with paid digital experiences is also reflected in research by the Media Council of Kenya (MCK). Its Navigating the Digital Reality 26 study found that 67.1% of respondents encounter payment mechanisms on digital platforms either very often or often, while 45.8% said they pay to access Kenyan digital content. The study notes that the frequency of these payment mechanisms points to the increasing normalisation of paid digital experiences, although affordability and the perceived value of what customers receive remain important considerations.
Bolt Plus brings this thinking into services that form part of customers’ everyday routines, from getting to work and meeting friends to ordering meals, buying groceries and running errands.

Ivy Njeri Maingi, Bolt Food General Manager, Kenya said: “A subscription only works when the customer can see the value in it, and that was the starting point for Bolt Plus. We looked at what our most frequent customers do every day: take rides, order food, buy groceries and change plans, and asked how we could give them more in return. For KES 280 a month, customers get 10% cashback on every ride, savings on eligible delivery fees, faster driver matching, priority food and retail delivery and greater flexibility when plans change. These benefits are built into the everyday Bolt experience, so the value is felt from the first ride or order. Ultimately, Bolt Plus is about rewarding loyalty in a way customers can actually feel. As people become more deliberate about the digital services they pay for, the value has to be clear. If you use Bolt regularly, Bolt Plus gives you more value from every shilling you spend.”
The introduction of Bolt Plus builds on Bolt’s continued expansion in Kenya, where the company now operates in nine cities and has established one of the country’s largest on-demand platforms. Bolt Food partners with more than 2,000 restaurants and retail outlets, while over 2,500 courier partners support the delivery of millions of food and retail orders annually, contributing to the growth of Kenya’s digital commerce ecosystem.
Bolt Plus is now available to customers across Kenya through the Bolt and Bolt Food apps.
