Ayub Timbe returns as coach Firat names provisional squad for South Sudan, Qatar friendlies

Harambee Stars coach Engin Firat has named his squad that will play Qatar and South Sudan in international friendly matches in September.

Kenya have lined up two friendly matches against Qatar in Doha and South Sudan in Nairobi. The matches will be played on the 7th and the 12th, respectively.

There are a number of comebacks in the squad. Kenya Police keeper Patrick is among those recalled after missing the June tournament in Comoros.

Defenders Joseph Okumu, Brian Mandela, and Johnstone Omurwa, who missed the tournament, also return, as does Sweden-based midfielder Timothy Ouma. The surprise inclusion is Ayub Timbe, who has been out of the national team set-up for two years.

A total of seven local-based players have been called up to the national set-up; four of them are from Kenya Police FC, with Kakamega Homeboyz, KCB, and Bandari each producing a player.

The team reports to camp on Sunday, September 3, 2023.
