ARSENAL are to hold talks with Mauro Icardi’s agent ahead of a potential move for the Inter Milan captain.
Arsene Wenger’s interest in the Argentine star is well documented and the Gunners appear to be moving quicker than their rivals Tottenham, who are also keen on the 23-year-old striker.
According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Arsenal will meet with Icardi’s representatives in London next week to hear their offer.
Should they reach a suitable agreement then it will be up to Icardi to try to push for a move away from Milan as Inter are determined to keep their skipper.
The Nerazzurri recently slapped a huge £43million price tag on Icardi, who has also attracted interest from Atletico Madrid.
Icardi’s wife Wanda Nara put a host of clubs on high alert earlier this month when she insisted he will be leaving Inter.
Icardi’s wife Wanda Nara recently admitted he will leave Inter.
She told Calciomercato: “There are many clubs interested. We will evaluate the situation with all due respect for everyone.
“Mauro would be very sad to leave Inter, but we’ve understood the club’s economic situation and evidently they cannot hold Icardi back.
“There is no release clause in his contract and we hope Inter won’t ask for a sum that is outside the market value, but rather suited to his contract.”
