AP Officer Cries Foul After Ex-wife Is Awarded More Than His Salary In Child Support By Court

An Administration Police officer in Kiambu County is crying foul after the Thika Law Court ordered him to pay child support amounting to Ksh 84,300 and a monthly stipend of Ksh 9,000.

In a story by NTV, Henry Kamwara Muturi complained about the hefty fine.

“I cannot manage to raise this amount of money at my current capacity and salary as an Administration Police officer.

“My salary alone can’t even amount to half the amount that the court has ordered me to pay,” remarked Kamwara.

Kamwara, who lives in a single-room house, further intimated that he has been living in abject poverty, therefore, unable to fulfill the orders.

“I remarried after we divorced and now live with my wife, two grown-up children, and a three-month-old baby in a single room.

“My ex-wife came in with demands that I can’t fulfill at my current financial status,” lamented Kamwara.

Further, the officer read malice in the court’s decision, arguing that the amount was way above what the child can consume.

Some of the demands from the court’s direction include Ksh 6,000 for lunch and school trips amounting to Ksh 1,500.

The officer was also ordered to pay Ksh 8,000 for books and stationery, Ksh 10,000 for clothing, Ksh 37,500 for food and medical expenses amounting to Ksh 2,500.
