Alfred Scriven, a 25-year-old striker born to a Kenyan mother and Norwegian father, has received his first call-up to the Kenyan national team ahead of a friendly match against Iran.

Scriven, who plays for IL Hødd in the Norwegian second-tier league, has expressed his determination to score goals for the team and contribute to its success.

Despite not knowing his Kenyan teammates prior to the call-up, Scriven has stated that he is willing to work with them to ensure the national team excels.

He has also emphasized that he is a team player who will pass the ball to any player in a better position to score, demonstrating his selflessness on the pitch.

“I’m not a selfish striker, if someone else is in a better position to score I will always pass the ball,” he said

Harambee Stars’ coach Engin Firat has praised Scriven for his hardworking attitude on the pitch and his aggression and ability to win high balls. Firat believes that Scriven brings something unique to the team and the Kenyan league in general.

“He is very aggressive and good in high balls. He brings in something that I’m yet to see in the Kenyan league. The Kenyan league is very soft with almost every contact being given as a foul,” said Firat.

Firat has named a provisional team of 30 players for the upcoming friendly match, with the players intensifying their preparations in training sessions at the Moi International Sports Centre in Kasarani. The team will fly out of the country on March 26 to face Iran on March 28.

Scriven’s surprise selection for the national team has caused a buzz in football circles, as he was relatively unknown before the call-up.
