The Recce Squad officer named as Dennis Momanyi, who was killed by a disgruntled police officer in Kapenguria on Thursday, had been married for just a month.
Momanyi and seven other officers were killed in an attack at Kapenguria police station in West Pokot county that began at about 4am.
He was one of many members of the General Service Unit who were flown to the location from Ruiru to end the standoff that saw many held hostage.
A Facebook tribute by the Recce company read: “RIP officer Dennis Momanyi of Recce Coy Ruiru. it was just the other month that you got married and now you are no more.
“You have left us too soon but may your soul rest in peace. Our condolences to your wife and family, we will never forget you and the ultimate sacrifice you made.”
