Anne Kiguta has quit her job at Royal Media Group’s Citizen Tv.

Ms. Kiguta’s resignation comes barely a day after fellow anchor Fred Indimuli also left the station. According to emerging reports, the duo is headed for rival station K24.

It is claimed that the duo may have left Citizen following the introduction of a high profile cast of presenters that appear to have dislodged other anchors from their comfort seats.

“Kiguta and Indimuli’s departure is being interpreted as the aftermath of the discontent that has been brewing at the SK Macharia-owned media house after it poached star journalists from rival stations, NTV and KTN, and gave them big salaries. The pay of other employees has remained static for several years now. At K24, they are set to get better terms, which Citizen TV was unlikely or unwilling to match,” reports a local media news site.

Others who have left the station in recent months include Salim Swaleh, who joined NTV and Mercy Kandie and Sylvia Chebet, who headed to the BBC.

K24 is said to be currently planning for a relaunch and has been pooling together a set of top anchors. Already, it has netted Betty Kyalo who was running the Friday Briefing Show at Standard Media Group’s KTN and Rose Gakuo who was a journalist at KBC. Ms. Gakuo is a former contestant of the The Presenter show which is organized and broadcast by KTN. The show seeks to recruit budding top journalism talent.

K24 is owned by the Deputy President William Ruto and the Uhuru Kenyatta family.
