The recent tragic bus accident involving Kenyatta University (KU) students has plunged families into deep sorrow as they mourn the loss of their loved ones.
Among those devastated by the incident is Catherine Rotich, a grief-stricken mother, who is mourning her firstborn son, Rogers Kiprotich.
In a heart-wrenching image captured by Citizen TV, Catherine Rotich struggled to contain her sorrow, emblematic of the anguish felt by many families affected by the tragedy.
In an emotional interview with Citizen TV, Catherine Rotich tearfully recounted her last conversation with her son before he embarked on the fateful trip.
“The last time we talked was when he was going on the trip. He was a very friendly and social person. The type of son every parent would want,” she tearfully said.
Accompanied by a relative, Alinda Wesonga, Catherine Rotich fondly remembered her late son as a diligent university student pursuing a medical course.
Described as hardworking and calm, Rogers Kiprotich was known for his amiable nature and his ability to connect with people.
“He was a very hardworking boy. He was very calm, and he was a people person. And we are so heartbroken. It is a gap that honestly nobody will fill, but we are trusting in God,” Alinda Wesonga said.
Rotich and Wesonga were among the families who attended a post-mortem examination at the Kenyatta University funeral home.
The results of the examination revealed that all the victims succumbed to severe head injuries sustained during the accident.
