Postmortem examinations have shown that lawyer Willie Kimani, his client Josphat Mwenda and taxi driver Joseph Muiruri were murdered using blunt objects and strangulation before they were thrown in a river.

This was revealed following an eight-hour autopsy conducted yesterday by a team of pathologists led by government pathologist Johansen Oduor.

According to the postmortem results, lawyer Kimani was smashed numerous times on the head using a heavy blunt object. “The object they used to kill the lawyer seemed to have been heavier than the one used on the rest, the fracture was more severe,” said Dr. Oduor.

The report further reported that taxi driver Muiruri was first strangled before the killers hit him on the head with a blunt object.

According to the Standard newspaper, the killers were more brutal on boda boda rider Josphat Mwenda. Apparently, he had suffered severe bleeding in the chest, neck and had a fracture in the head. The postmortem exercise was done at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).

Meawhile, Administration Police officers Senior Sergeant Fredrick Leliman, Corporal Stephen Chebulet and Constable Silvia Wanjiku Wanjohi, were arraigned in court and detained for 14 days to pave way for full investigations into the murder. According to the Standard, investigators are now pursuing three other police officers suspected to have taken part in the killings. The three are said to be on the run.
