The Comb Green clean-up team working under Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has retrieved two more bodies from the Nairobi River.

The bodies of infants were retrieved at the Korogocho area and the matter was reported to the Kariobangi police station.

So far, 21 bodies have been retrieved since the Nairobi River Restoration Project began sometime in 2019.

The 21 decedents include 16 infants and 5 adults.

Fredrick Okinda, who is leading the clean-up team said the clean-up activity was halted for hours on Monday after they spotted a polythene bag floating in the river.

Upon checking, they discovered the body of an infant stuffed in the bag.

“One of us noticed a paper bag floating around and when he went on to open it, he was shocked to find remains of an infant and minutes later, we found another body of a girl dumped around the same area,” Okinda noted.ro
