A junior police officer drowned in a pool of water in Olkaria, Naivasha as reported by The Standard on Thursday, January 16, 2020.

The deceased’s body was discovered at the pool by his colleagues who rushed him to the hospital where he was confirmed dead.

According to the publication, reports surfaced alleging that the law enforcer was under medication.

Naivasha police boss Samwel Waweru, who spoke to the news outlet stated that a postmortem on the officer’s body would reveal the cause of death.

“We can confirm that one of our officers died in Olkaria and an inquest file has been opened up as part of investigations,” Waweru was quoted by the daily.

A worker in the geothermal rich area revealed that the officer was not in anyone’s company when the incident occurred, straining the process of establishing the cause.

He informed that the departed had frequented the area to wash his face at the pool because it trapped hot steam.

“He was not that medically fit and we suspect that he slipped and fell into the pool and there was no one to assist him,” the worker stated, as quoted by the publication.
