Drama ensued at Ikanga airstrip in Voi, Taita Taveta County after Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko engaged police in a scuffle, refusing to board a police chopper that had come to airlift him to Nairobi.
The video has emerged online and Kenyans are stunned.
In the video, one can see the flamboyant governor engaging in a fistfight with police
officers who were escorting him to the waiting chopper.
“THE GOVERNOR IS VERY VIOLENT, HE HAS SERIOUSLY BEATEN ONE OF US WHO was ESCORTING HIM TO THE CHOPPER. IT WAS A VERY COMPLICATED OPERATION BUT WE HAVE SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED IT,” A JUNIOR OFFICER WHO IS NOT AUTHORIZED TO ADDRESS PRESS SAID.
He was later bundled in the chopper and airlifted to Nairobi.
