7 Counties including Nairobi that will be hit by power blackout Today

Seven counties will today, Wednesday, August 30, 2023, be hit by a power blackout, the Kenya Power has said.

In a statement issued on the night of Tuesday, August 29, 2023, KPLC said that the blackout would be because of regular maintenance.

“Hello, these areas will be affected by planned power interruptions,” Kenya Power said.

In Nairobi County, the specific areas affected include the Kayole and Saika. Others include Maili Saba, Mwengenye, Obama, Njiru, Slaughter House, KPCE Factory, Danmills, Komarock Sector 1, Kayole Junction, Kayole Primary School, Kayole Police Station, Mihang’o Stage, and adjacent customers.

Other places are Dagoretti and Karen Estates. More specific areas include Dagoretti Road, Warai South Road, Warai North Road, Nyumbani Children’s Home, Pepo Lane, Three D Lane, Windridge, Mudodo Lane, Link Road, The Hub, Don Bosco, and adjacent customers.

In Kiambu County, the areas that will be affected include Kwaheri Road, Thindigua, Paradise Lost, Runda Palms, Christ is the Answer Ministries (CITAM), Evergreen, Runda Mhasibu, Wadi Degla, and adjacent customers.

In Makueni County, the areas that will be affected include Kola and Wote. More specific areas that will also be affected by the power interruptions include Kilala Market, Mukuyuni Market, Ukia Girls, Kivani Market, Kivani Secondary School, Kali Market, Mbuani Market, Utagwa Market, Kyamuthei Secondary School, Kiliungi Market, Kitundu Market, Kyau Market, Engavu Secondary School and adjacent customers.

In Murang’a County, the areas that will be affected include Nginda and Kaharo. Other specific areas include Ihumbu Market, Kaharo Girls Secondary School, Kaharo Village, Gathera Secondary School, Gathera Village, Itaaga Village, Gachocho Market, Murang’a Technical Training Institute and adjacent customers.

In Nyeri County, the power interruptions will affect the Kiawara and Nairutia areas. More specific areas include Nairutia, Ruiries, Tanyai, Matopeni, Ngebit Secondary School, Lamuria, Bellevue, Kariguini and Mugunda.

Other areas include Kamiruri, Marina, Mahiga Meru, and adjacent customers.

The areas of Tumu Tumu and Kiangoma will also be affected by the power interruptions. The specific areas include; Giagatika Market, Mbogoini Village, Tumutumu Hospital, Tumutumu Secondary School, Kiamubira Primary School, Kiangoma Market, and Kiangui.

Other areas that will also be affected within Nyeri County include Kanyanjiru, Mbari ya Njora, Kiarie Coffee Factory, Wakamata Polytechnic, and adjacent customers.

In Kirinyaga County, the areas that will be affected by the power blackout include parts of Kagumo Market, Kabonge Market, Mutira Girls High School, Riakiania Market, Mugaya Coffee Factory, Karaini Coffee Factory, Kiaragana Market, and adjacent customers.

In Mombasa County, Likoni, Mrima Primary School, Mount Sinai, Barabara ya Mchanga, Mwananguvuze, Corner Zamani, Harambee, Corner Mpya, and Corner police will be affected by the power interruptions.

Other areas include; Vijiweni, Bububu, Mbuta, Shonda, Ujamaa, Shikaadabu, Approved, Brazil, Ijara, Misikiti Mwili, Checkpoint, Ndibwini, Soweto Kiteje and adjacent customers.

This set of power interruptions arrives on the heels of a nationwide blackout experienced just four days ago, which plunged the entire country into darkness.

The blackout on Friday evening had significant ramifications, disrupting various businesses and activities, including Jomo Kenyatta International Airport operations.

Kenya Power Company attributed the widespread blackout to a system disturbance, leading to the loss of power supply across multiple regions.

As the scheduled interruptions unfold, residents and businesses within the affected counties are advised to make necessary preparations to minimize any inconveniences caused by the temporary power outages.
