Who can forget the 2001 blockbuster soap opera ‘The Promise’! It was billed as a success, bagging five television awards raging from best drama and series to the most highly commended series.

Well, things are about to get interesting following the remake of this soap opera in 2015. Excitingly, the new series will be showing on StarTimes.

In this remake, the story begins with Amor de Jesus (real name Jodi Sta. Maria), a nursing student whose dream was to become a chef. She is the mother of Yna Macaspac, and is portrayed as vicious and vengeful against the Buenavista family.  Strikingly, her own daughter Yna is in love with Angelo, the son of Eduardo Buenavista, who she had loved in her own youth.

Amor nonetheless sees Angelo as the kingpost of her revenge against the family. However,by destroying him, he will have to cross Yna, her daughter. Ultimately, her conflict with the Buenavista family faces the intense love between her daughter and Angelo. And by crossing Yna Macaspac, Amor is unwittingly led to the greatest tragedy of her life – greater than what has befallen her in the past. Will she ever find out that Yna is her daughter? Will they reconcile? Will Yna and Angelo’s love prevail like it did in the original soap opera? Well, you can catch all the action every Thursday and Friday at 19:50 on channel DTT 053 and DTH 127 on StarTimes.

Already, this soap opera has started causing waves, after winning the TV Show of the Year award and posting the second highest ratings for any episode by a TV series.

The 2000 Filipino soap opera had starred Kristine Hermosa, Jericho Rosales, Eula Valdez, Jean Garcia, Tonton Gutierrez, and Jodi Sta. Maria, who currently stars in the remake as Amor Powers.

The 2015 remake stars Kathryn Bernardo, Daniel Padilla, Jodi Sta. Maria, Angelica Panganiban, and Ian Veneracion. The series aired on ABS-CBN and worldwide on The Filipino Channel from May 25, 2015 to February 12, 2016.

The show will be airing on StarTimes every Thursday and Friday at 19:50 on channel DTT 053 and DTH 127. Two episodes will be shown daily.
