Arsenal is said to be preparing to table an audacious bid to sign German star Julian Draxler.

The Wolfsburg winger is reportedly available for around £55m, but Arsenal are thought to believe they could secure his services for less than that.

They are not the only club sniffing around Draxler, though, as Liverpool are also believed to be interested in making a move for the 22-year-old.

Elsewhere, Arsenal scout Neil Banfield has been quoted as saying Napoli’s Jorginho is “the strongest midfielder” in Serie A, adding that “watching him play is a pleasure for the eyes”.

Arsene Wenger has also been linked with making a move to re-sign Thomas Vermaelen, who is reportedly stalling on signing a deal to join West Ham in the hope that he will be able to return to the Emirates instead.

But Vermaelen would be unlikely to receive that phone call if Arsenal are signing Inter Milan defender Jeison Murillo, as Italian reports suggest. The rumour is that talks between the two clubs have already begun over the £15m-rated Colombian.
