Nairobi, 25th February 2026. The Mau Forest Complex Integrated Conservation and Livelihood Improvement Programme (MFC-ICLIP) has made notable progress since its launch by President of Kenya, Dr. William Ruto, CGH, on 27th October 2025.
Under the direction of Dr. Eng. Festus K. Ng’eno, the Programme Patron, MFC-ICLIP held its Media and Partners’ Stock-Take Meeting today at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Upper Hill, Nairobi. The meeting aimed to review the achievements and challenges of the 1st Edition and set the stage for the upcoming 2nd Edition scheduled for 3rd–4th July 2026.
The meeting allowed stakeholders to evaluate progress made over the past months, share lessons learned, and discuss pending activities along with their execution plans. Focus was on key priorities, resource gathering, and strengthening collaboration to ensure the continued success of the Programme.

During the meeting, Dr. Ng’eno highlighted the milestones from the 1st Edition. These include community engagement initiatives, sustainable livelihood projects, and conservation efforts in the Mau Forest Complex. He reaffirmed the Programme’s commitment to balancing environmental restoration with the economic empowerment of communities that rely on forest resources.
As preparations for the 2nd Edition move forward, stakeholders feel hopeful about increasing interventions, building partnerships, and gathering resources to strengthen Kenya’s role in sustainable forest conservation.
The MFC-ICLIP shows how integrated approaches can lead to real progress in both environmental protection and community development. It sets a standard for similar initiatives across the country.
