Food4Education (F4E) has called on Kenyan corporates to deepen their role in advancing sustainable school feeding programmes, positioning private sector partnerships as critical to unlocking long-term impact for millions of learners.
The appeal was made during the culmination of the Swing for Impact charity golf tournament held on the evening of February 20,2026 at Muthaiga Golf Club, a high-level fundraising event co-hosted by F4E and renowned golfer and resource mobiliser Steve Okello. The event convened senior corporate leaders, philanthropists and development partners to mobilise resources for hot nutritious school meals, delivered at a cost of Sh6,685 per child annually.
Currently serving more than 600,000 children every school day across Nairobi, Kiambu, Murang’a, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Embu, Machakos, Makueni, Kajiado, Nakuru, Uasin Gishu, Kisumu and Homabay counties, F4E continues to scale its model through structured collaboration with county governments, corporate partners and philanthropic supporters.
Speaking at the event, F4E Founder and CEO Wawira Njiru emphasised that sustainable school feeding requires long-term, mission-aligned partnerships with the private sector.
“Giving back to communities is not separate from business success; it underpins it. Your support directly funds hot, nutritious meals for children who need them most, creating the next generation of leaders,” said Njiru. “Today, I invite you to swing for something bigger than the game: Kenya’s next generation of leaders.”
She noted that F4E’s next phase of growth will be anchored on systems strengthening and deeper public–private collaboration to ensure school feeding programmes remain resilient, transparent and scalable.
Co-host Steve Okello underscored the unique role of sport in mobilising resources for social impact.
“Golf has a unique power to convene leaders, decision-makers and philanthropists in one space,” said Okello. “When we harness sport for purpose, we unlock networks, capital and long-term partnerships that go far beyond the golf course. Today’s tournament shows how sport can be a serious driver of sustainable social investment.”
The event brought together senior corporate executives, including Peter Ndegwa of Safaricom, alongside local and international philanthropists who pledged support toward sustaining and expanding F4E’s school feeding impact.
Tournament winners received various awards, including return air tickets for two to Kenya’s iconic migration destinations in the Maasai Mara National Reserve and to Zanzibar, courtesy of supporting sponsors.
    Proven Scale and Systemic Impact
Founded in 2012, F4E has grown into a nationally embedded system delivering more than 600,000 hot nutritious meals daily while strengthening local supply chains and supporting smallholder farmers.
In 2025 alone, the organisation delivered over 82 million meals, representing 51 per cent of all meals served since inception. During the year, F4E operated a network of 165 kitchens and served nearly 1,800 schools across 13 counties.
Its model integrates technology and accountability tools such as Tap2Eat, a cashless platform that enhances transparency and preserves dignity in school feeding, alongside the development of Africa’s largest green kitchen. These innovations demonstrate how locally designed systems can deliver scale efficiently while remaining resilient and cost- effective.
Beyond implementation, F4E continues to shape national conversations around school feeding policy, reinforcing the role of nutritious school meals as foundational to learning outcomes, child wellbeing and long-term economic development.
As partnerships with Kenyan corporates continue to grow, the organisation remains focused on strengthening the collaborative infrastructure required to ensure no child is excluded from education because of hunger.
