Somali Embassy in Nairobi has condemned the actions of a group of Somali youth who were filmed abusing the Kenyan national flag after a recent football match involving Mogadishu City Club.
Describing the incident as “regrettable and unacceptable,” the Embassy emphasized that this behavior does not reflect the values of the Somali people or the spirit of friendship between Somalia and Kenya.
“We strongly condemn the disrespect shown to the Kenyan flag by a few individuals. Their actions do not represent our youth, our athletes, or the proud history of cooperation between our nations,” the Embassy stated.
The Embassy highlighted that the Kenyan flag is a symbol of sovereignty, unity, and dignity for the Kenyan people, and it deserves full respect from everyone. It assured that Somali authorities are dedicated to promoting mutual respect, peace, and understanding among communities.
