Victoria Commercial Bank PLC reaffirmed its commitment to community health by contributing shs1.25 million in support of the Faraja Cancer Support Trust’s “Be Bold Go Gold for Childhood Cancer” event. This marks the fourth consecutive year that the Bank has sponsored the initiative.
The annual walk/run took place on Saturday, 20th September 2025 at Kalro Grounds, Muguga, bringing together school children, corporates, sports enthusiasts, and families for a day of awareness, fitness, and solidarity. Participants can choose from 5km, 10km, and 21km races, with additional family-friendly activities planned throughout the day.
The cheque handover was led by Chairperson of the Board, Ketaki Sheth, who reaffirmed the Bank’s strong partnership with Faraja and its commitment to supporting children from low and middle-income families affected by cancer.
“Every year, 3000 children are diagnosed with cancer. With every year, cancer continues to be one of the most pressing health challenges in our society, touching nearly every family in some way. By supporting Faraja, we are helping to shine a light on the reality of childhood cancer and the need for greater awareness, resources, and compassion,” stated Sheth during the handover ceremony of the cheque to Faraja officials.
Reinforcing the sentiment, Victoria Commercial Bank’s Chief Executive Officer Dr Yogesh Pattni added, “This is our fourth consecutive year partnering with Faraja, and each year the impact of this initiative becomes clearer. Every shilling invested in awareness, treatment, and support is an investment in healthier futures for our children. We view this partnership as part of our wider social development goals. Victoria Commercial Bank strives to work for stronger, healthier communities where every child has the chance to thrive.
