President Uhuru Kenyatta has appointed Education CS Fred Matiang’i acting CS in the Ministry of Interior and National Co-ordination.

Dr Matinag’i replaces Major General (Retired) Joseph Nkaissery who died suddenly on Saturday morning.

The president said there will be no vacuum in the security docket.

Speaking during a press briefing at State House Nairobi, Uhuru said he has cancelled his campaign tour today in Turkana County as he joins Kenyans in mourning Nkaissery.

The president was scheduled to campaign in Turkana County with deputy president William Ruto.
