Jubilee Party stands firm amid leadership wrangles

The Jubilee Party has reaffirmed its unity and commitment to the people of Kenya amid ongoing internal leadership disputes. In a press briefing held today, party leaders dismissed actions they described as attempts to destabilize Jubilee’s structures and emphasized their dedication to constitutional governance and accountability.

Hon. Sabina Chege, Jubilee’s Parliamentary Party Whip, hailed a recent court ruling that halted a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting convened by Hon. Jeremiah Kioni. The meeting, which was scheduled for November 14, was declared illegal. “Kioni has continuously misrepresented the party, even attending Azimio meetings while falsely claiming to represent Jubilee. His legitimacy as a party leader is long gone,” stated Chege.

The Jubilee leadership made it clear that the party is not controlled by individuals but by its structures and constitution. “This party belongs to its members and the people of Kenya. It is not anyone’s personal playground,” the leaders asserted. They labeled Kioni’s recent actions as desperate and ineffective attempts to derail Jubilee’s mission.

Turning to national matters, the party commended the government for continuing with key aspects of the Big 4 Agenda, originally introduced during Jubilee’s administration. The leadership highlighted significant progress in affordable housing, food security, and healthcare. “We are pleased to see that the housing agenda is creating jobs and that food production has increased due to the fertilizer subsidy,” read part of the statement.

The leaders also called on the government to address challenges in rolling out Universal Health Coverage (UHC), urging clear communication to ensure all Kenyans, especially those with chronic illnesses, can benefit. “UHC is transformative, but without proper public awareness, many Kenyans risk being excluded,” Jubilee warned.

In addition to economic and healthcare issues, Jubilee took time to encourage students sitting for national examinations. The party expressed its belief in nurturing young talent to drive the country’s future and emphasized education as a critical pillar of development.

Jubilee leadership pledged to remain steadfast in safeguarding the party’s integrity while holding the government accountable. Hon. Nelson Dzuya, the National Chairperson, reaffirmed their commitment to both peace and development, stating, “As one of Kenya’s largest political parties, we will continue to prioritize the needs of the people and defend our values against any threats.”
