David Ndii is the founder of Zimele Asset Management Limited where he also serves as the board’s chairman.
The company started operations in August 1998, primarily offering money management services.
Years down the line, Zimele provides investment advising services to both individual and corporate clients, as well as fund management through the Zimele Unit Trust and Zimele Pension Schemes.
The company’s primary revenue streams are fund management, advisory/consultancy and fund administration fees for Zimele Asset Management, as well as dividend and interest income from its Zimele Unit Trust.
Zimele Asset Management made a profit before tax of Ksh 5.2 million on a total income of Ksh 30.2 million in the first half of 2022.
It was a huge rise over the same time in 2021, when the profit before tax was Ksh 1.39 million on a total income of Ksh 22 million.

As of June 2022, Zimele Asset Management has total assets of Ksh 61.9 million, up from Ksh 56.9 million in June 2021.
Ndii currently serves as the Chairperson of President William Ruto’s Council of Economic Advisers.
He previously served as one of Azimio leader Raila Odinga’s top strategists in the 2017 Presidential bid.
Ndii holds a doctorate and master’s degrees in economics from Oxford, and masters and bachelor’s degrees from the University of Nairobi.
He has also been a Rhodes scholar at Oxford University and an Eisenhower Fellow.
