Media personality Mwalimu Rachel has opened up about her journey in the industry, shedding light on the pivotal moments that shaped her career.
Rachel’s tenure began at HomeBoyz Radio, where she found herself deeply immersed in a show that was steadily gaining popularity.
It was during this time that she received not one, but two enticing offers to join the renowned Kiss FM, a move that could have significantly elevated her career trajectory.
However, despite the allure of higher salaries and greater exposure, Rachel chose to trust her instincts and declined both offers.
For Rachel, the decision wasn’t solely about financial gain; it was about honoring her journey and ensuring that she had fully explored her potential in her current role.
“I looked at it and still said no. Something was telling me it’s not the right time. They came for me twice and with every offer they increased the salary offer. It was very tempting, but I felt I hadn’t given my all to the show, which was just starting to make a name for itself… I had not expressed as much as I wanted to. So I said no to the money,” Rachel added.
Her dedication to her craft eventually paid off when she finally accepted an offer to join Radio Africa’s Kiss FM in 2024.
“The time was right. Everything sort of aligned. I am in that period where you can see I am transitioning. I have more to offer because I am now getting into a new space in my life,” Mwalimu said.
Today, as she hosts the Kiss Drive alongside DJ Xclusive, Rachel embodies the essence of versatility and resilience.
“I’m older so I can offer more sound advice to young people. I can speak in the space of a presenter, a businesswoman, a mother, and a career woman, and somebody who still aspires for more in life,”
