Kenya’s sports commentator Fred Arocho has left Citizen TV’s Sporty Monday show after four years of service.
In a post on his Facebook page, Arocho shared a thankful message to the management of Royal Media Services for the opportunity they gave him to serve.
“It’s been four years of great moments at Citizen TV’s Sporty Monday Show! As I sign off, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the management of Royal Media Services for giving me the chance to serve. I also extend my gratitude to fellow panelists Mukami Wambora, Steve Shitera, and Zitah Jimoi. Special thanks to the Head of RMS Sports Centre, Isaac Swila, for the memorable moments at work. I have truly enjoyed every moment of my time here,” Arocho posted.
Arocho’s departure comes days after Royal Media Services made new changes to its sports desk, including appointments and reorganization of staff members within the sports reports department.
While announcing the changes in a memo dated 27th February, Group Editorial Director and Head of Strategy Linus Kaikai stated that the station was on a mission to streamline the sports department.
“To further realize our objectives, it has become necessary to re-organize our operations, and I am consequently delighted to announce the following changes,” read the memo in part.
Kaikai has since promoted Young Muthomi to the position of Managing Editor of Radio News and Sports, overseeing the RMS Sports Centre. In this role, Muthomi will be responsible for both editorial and administrative duties within the sports department.
Further changes to the sports desk reveal that Isaac Swila will be promoted and appointed as the Head of RMS Sports Centre, in charge of coordinating sports coverage needs across all platforms.
