Velji Jayaben Jayeshikumar, implicated in the murder of her husband, Indian businessman Jayesh Kumar, faced the Kibera Law Courts, where she was ordered to remain in police custody for 14 days.
Jayaben was arrested following an investigations uncovering her communication with one of the four suspects already in custody on the day of her husband’s demise.
In her confession to the police, she revealed that she intended to torture and scare her husband, with no intention of killing him, after domestic differences escalated at their home.
However, what began as a misguided attempt to address marital issues escalated into a sinister conspiracy with fatal consequences.
During the court proceedings, the prosecution requested 21 days to further detain Jayaben for investigative purposes. However, her legal counsel argued for a shorter period, emphasizing her ties to her family and the lack of flight risk.
The court eventually settled on a 14-day extension, citing compelling evidence linking Jayaben to the murder plot.
“Jayaben is alleged to have been involved in the murder plot after phone analysis revealed that she was in contact with one of the four suspects who were arrested and arraigned at Kibera Law Courts on February 19th,”
“She is reported to have asked the suspect to help discipline and torture her husband as the two had disagreements. The other suspect agreed and recruited others to execute the plan.” Kibera Law Courts Magistrate Magistrate Irene Kahuya stated during the arraignment of the businessman’s wife.
CCTV footage captured Jayaben walking with her husband and son on Valentine’s Day morning, mere hours before the chilling events unfolded.
Reports suggest she made a pivotal call to the perpetrators, prompting them to carry out their nefarious mission.
Despite her purported shock upon learning of her husband’s death, the other suspect is reported to have sent her a text three hours later informing her that they had finished the job.
As the investigation progresses, authorities are prioritizing crucial steps, including DNA testing on recovered remains believed to be those of Jayesh Kumar, verification of suspects’ immigration status, and mandatory mental evaluations for all involved parties.
